The Lamb Weston RSD Field Day is back! For the first time since 2019 student athletes with disabilities will take to the field on May 11 to raise awareness, celebrate their strengths and build community.

This year’s event, which will have roughly 30 total track and field and nontraditional competitive events, will be at the Hanford High School athletics complex and run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is no cost for any students to participate or for anyone to attend and cheer them on.

“We are hoping for the highest levels of student participation and turnout,” says Scott Piippo, the event’s organizer and a special education teacher at Richland High School. “We want to celebrate all these students, the perseverance they have displayed throughout the pandemic and resume the young tradition of this powerful community sponsored event!”

Lamb Weston and community partners Jersey Mike’s Subs, Lydig Construction, Framatome, Gale & Rew Construction, Kadlec, Crigler Insurance Agency (CIA), HiLine Engineering & Fabrication, Cline Computers and Kris and Cameron Mitchell are sponsoring the event. Their support will cover the cost of the event and provide a lunch and snacks to participating students. In addition, contributions made in memory of former Richland High student Darsi Hilty are going toward supporting this year's event.

All students planning to attend the event—whether as a participant, volunteer or spectator—must register via FamilyID.
